Hi I'm Lawanna

I'm funny. I love to bowl. I'm a cancer patient. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Marrianna, Arkansas. I joined the Mormon church July 10, 2006. I moved to Utah in 2007 and when I moved to Utah I worked at a publishing company. A year and a half later I was diagnosed with cancer. And right now I'm just trying to fight.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm Mormon because the gospel has helped me to learn to have faith. And how to have peace and happiness. It has taught me how to forgive. I'm Mormon because it brings me joy, happiness, and comfort. Before I was Mormon I was out on the streets selling drugs. I was raised in foster homes. My mom was on drugs. I was living from post to post, house to house. I didn't have peace. I didn't have happiness. I didn't have no love. When I joined the Mormon church it taught me all those things.

How I live my faith

Right now I can't give a lot of service because of my sickness, but one way I do serve is I go around putting cupcakes with a little note on people's door. I want to help them feel happy. I pray everyday and read my scriptures. Sometimes I just call people in my ward to see how they are doing today. I love to visit the girls in my ward. Going to visit and teach them can just make a person's day.

What is faith?

Lawanna
Faith is something that you believe in but you can't see. For example, when I joined the church I knew I had to leave my old lifestyle and my old neighborhood. I had a friend going to school in Utah and the night before she was leaving I told her I was coming with her. I got in the car with $20 and came with no job and nowhere to live. And when I came out here I had to have faith that Heavenly Father was going to provide for me and help me find a place to live and a job. Cause everyone was saying that this was the true church and I had to believe it on my own and in my heart. So that's what I did. I came to Utah on faith. Show more Show less
