Hi I'm Shannon

I love playing the piano and singing. I'm going to become a Speech Language Pathologist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town with four brothers and one sister. Because my dad is a farmer, I have had plenty of experience feeding calves, bailing hay, and changing the water-the list could go on. Farming has never been the love of my life, but I am appreciative of the work ethic it has instilled in me and my family. I have a bachelors degree in Speech Language Pathology, and am now pursuing a masters degree in Speech Language Pathology while working in schools as a Speech Language Technician. I love my job becuase I get to work with children and help them improve their speech. I also have a deep love of music. I enjoy playing the piano, the flute, and the organ.  I will be getting married this summer to a wonderful guy. I will be sealed to him for time and all eternity in the holy temple of the lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of what I know-this church is true and it brings me happiness and joy. Because I have grown up in the church, my conversion to this church began when I was young. I grew up learning the teachings from the gospel in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Through reading from the scriptures, I have learned that this gospel is a gospel of peace, and it is centered around my savior Jesus Christ, who has atoned for my imperfections and wants me to become closer to him and become like him. I also love this church because it is a family centered church. I know that families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

I am in the Young Single Adult Ward in the church. This means that my ward is made up of young single adults who are not yet married. In my ward I have a calling as a pianist. I have the opportunity to bring a calming, worshiping atmosphere into the room by playing sacred hymns. I also visit teach a couple girls in my ward. Once a month my friend and I visit these girls in their homes. It is our job to look out for them and make sure everything in their lives are going okay, and to find out if there is anything we can do to serve them. We also share with them a spiritual message, with hopes that the message will comfort them and motivate them to come closer to Christ.

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

I attend church every Sunday. When I attend church, it allows me to learn and re-learn principles of my church. Attending church gives me a renewed motivation to keep God's commandments and always remember him. Members of the church are encouraged to attend the temple often, and there is no restriction on how often we attend the temple. When attending the temple we make promises with god and perform sacred ordinances that link us to the blessings available throughout eternity. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

Both the book of Mormon and the Bible are testaments of Christ. They testify that Christ lived and died for us, and through his atonement we can return and live with him someday. We believe in the Bible because it is a testament of Christ. This Holy Book is complimented by the Book of Mormon, a book about Christ and his visit to a different people on the American Continent.   Show more Show less
