Hi I'm Gwen

I was in the military. I'm now a Military Spouse. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have the privilege of staying at home with my kids. I have 3 daughters, 1 son and a Marine for a husband. We are now stationed overseas in the beautiful country of Japan.

Why I am a Mormon

I want to live with my family forever!! I know that through the Gospel of Jesus Christ it has been made possible.

How I live my faith

Being in the military has given me great opportunities to share what I know and believe in. I have the privilege of helping my husband with the serviceman's group on our current base. We have a sacrament meeting where we sing, share spiritual messages, partake of the sacrament and share our testimonies. After the sacrament meeting we have a Sunday School class, where we learn more about our Savior.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Our services are on Sunday's and consist of three meetings. The first is Sacrament Meeting, where we are blessed to be able to partake of the sacrament. The whole family will sit together and listen to other church members share their testimonies about gospel topics. After Sacrament meeting the children will meet together with others their same ages and be taught gospel lessons and sing songs. The adults will meet together for a gospel lesson and then the men and women split. The men go to priesthood and the women go to Relief Society, where they have another lesson and can fellowship with one another. The meetings are approximately 1 hour each for a total of 3 hours. If you are in the Military, most bases have LDS services, but it may be a little different. There will always be Sacrament Meeting, but after that there may only be one meeting where the men and women will meet for a gospel lesson. You will also find LDS services on ship and in war areas. Along with the Sunday Service you will also have a evening meeting on a weekday called Family Home Evening. You will meet together for a song, prayer, short gospel lesson, fun and games. It is a time to relax and have fun with fellow military members that are also away from home. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come to our church services. Show more Show less
