Hi I'm Michelle

I live in the Seattle area. I love green smoothies and digital scrapbooking. My family life is everything to me! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have an amazing husband and three beautiful daughters. I have my master's degree in education and taught elementary school for a few years before becoming a mom. My kids are my world, and I love being involved in everything they do in their lives -- from school and lessons to hugging them and praying with them. This year I am homeschooling my 5th grader, and I am enjoying this time of discovery and bonding with her. I'm a "liver" mom too... my middle daughter received a liver transplant a year and a half ago, and I have learned more about medical miracles and medicine than I ever thought I would. I love the new community of people we have met through this challenge and the greater appreciation of life I have been given. My hobbies include nutrition, dance, digital scrapbooks and yearbooks, and blogging.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon faith, but my parents encouraged me to study everything and decide truth for myself. I knew I needed to gain my own testimony of my religion in order to continue forward as a member of the Church. I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover as a teenager and prayed to know if it was from God. I received an answer which confirmed to my heart that it is truly another testament of Jesus Christ. This has been a strength to me throughout my life as I continue to study its teachings along with the bible. Even today as I sit in church, sing hymns, or teach my children, I feel a burning in my soul that I'm on the right path and that this church is the true and living Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love having the gift of the Holy Ghost as a constant companion to guide and direct me in the daily decisions I make. Because I have been a member of the Church since birth, I have always had answers to questions that I'm sure others in this world still wonder about. I enjoy great peace and comfort knowing that I am a spirit daughter of my Heavenly Father. I love knowing that life on this earth was prepared for all of us by Him so that we could experience challenges and growth, sorrows and great joy. I'm grateful to know that there is a plan that goes beyond this life and that Jesus Christ is the central part of it. He suffered for our sins and gave us the opportunity to repent and try again every day. I lost a son at birth. The comfort I have in knowing I will see him and be his mother again is tremendous. I know where he is and that life continues after life on this earth. Knowing what is to come and what is possible through the choices I make gives me great direction.

How I live my faith

Each day my morning begins with prayer. This helps me think through my day ahead -- I can ask for help with challenges and express thankfulness for specific blessings. I love that I can have direct communication with my Heavenly Father at any time of day. At church, my job is teaching the primary-aged children (ages 3-11). I love their bright eyes and shiny spirits. I love to feel the Holy Spirit in the room as I teach them gospel truths.
