Hi I'm Danielle

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a PhD student studying Art History at the City University of New York Graduate Center. I love documentary photography and all things Brazilian. I work as an art history research assistant, blog about art, go to art museums and art conferences. I hope to teach art as a college professor. I really love art.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family. As the oldest of six I felt obligated both to make my parents proud, and to help parent my younger siblings. Energetically pursuing academic goals was an important part of my effort to be a better daughter and an example to my younger siblings. I worked and studied voraciously, participated in choirs and varsity sports. In part I did these things because I wanted to, and in part because I wanted to make my family proud. But, in vocational as well as spiritual pursuits, one must choose for ones' self. I am a Mormon because I feel God's love for me when I strive to abide by the principles taught to me as a member of the church. I know that my life has been blessed as I practice faith, obedience, charity, the other foundational values taught to me as a child.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day by day. Life can be hard work, but I know from experience that faith never makes things worse, it can only make things better. As I use my faith to strengthen myself in hard times I feel a greater connection to God. My faith helps me continuously strive to do better academically, personally, socially, professionally, and physically. As I live my faith I feel God's presence in my life to an ever greater degree.
