Hi I'm Don

I grew up in California. I'm a father of 5. I'm a healthcare executive. I'm an road cyclist and bike commuter and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an administrator of a clinical department in an academic medical center. I'm very happily married for over 36 years and I'm the father of 4 sons and one daughter. My sons are all Eagle Scouts and each served a 2 year mission for the church. All five have graduated from college and have been married in one of the church's temples. I'm an avid cyclist and bicycle commuter. I ride 10.5 miles each way to work everyday rain or shine. I serve a bishop in my church and have volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church when I was 12 years old through the Boy Scout program sponsored by a local Mormon congregation Ward. I remember walking into the church for the first time and it felt like I was walking into my family room. I felt at home and never wanted to leave. I have lived the teaching of the Church for many years and I have learned to trust God and His Son Jesus Christ. They are real, they love us and want to help us be the best we can be and have restored the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth with a living prophet to guide us like Moses or Abraham. Other than my family there is nothing more important to me than my relationship with my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. I invite you to learn more about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ today. You too can know and feel as I do, that there is a Heavenly Father who loves us and that he has revealed the plan for our happiness.

How I live my faith

I have always been active in my church, serving in many different roles. Most of them had to do with teenagers and Scouting. As a dad, I dedicated a lot of time to serving in the community where ever my children were involved. Besides many Scouting callings, I was also a community soccer league coach for 18 years. My fundamental philosophy in life has been to exemplify the Golden Rule, "Therefore, all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them". I have been very blessed in my life and I find that the more I give back, through service or donations, the more I receive. As a bishop, I find that many watch and are influenced by how I live my life. I spend time every day talking to God and reading His words in the scriptures. In turn, I am prompted by Him to do and say things to others that often are answers to their prayers. As a cyclist, I love being outdoors and soaking up the majesties of the world and it strengthens my faith in God and His love.
