Hi I'm Brenda

I'm a 7th generation Mormon, and I'm proud of my pioneer heritage!

About Me

I'm the proud mother of five! I have a grandson and a granddaughter an another grandson on the way! My oldest 2 daughters are happily married. My oldest son served a mission in the Philippines and is now serving our country in the US Navy. He is engaged to a lovely girl and they will be married soon! My youngest daughter is a very talented singer with four songs on itunes. My youngest son is a boy scout who loves everyone. I have homeschooled all of my children. I only have one child still being homeschooled as the others are grown!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints thanks to my wonderful pioneer heritage. My 7th great-grandfather Enos Curtis was one of the missionaries who taught Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball. All of my ancestor's on my mother's side, crossed the plains to Salt Lake with the Mormon pioneers. My mother was faithful in taking my brother and I to church as children, even though my father wasn't a member of the church. I learned for myself, at a very young age that this is the Lord's church, here on the earth. When I was twelve years old, my father decided to take the missionary discussions, and joined the church. A year later we were sealed as a family in the St. George temple.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward congregation as the ward librarian and as the Sunday bulletin coordinator. I feel I can best help all the teachers in my congregation by providing the supplies and pictures they need to best teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I also work as a called volunteer in the Houston, Texas temple every Thursday. I feel so much closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as I help with the clerical work in the temple.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

My father passed away almost four years ago. I am so grateful to know that husband and wife can be together forever if their marriage is performed in the temple for time and all eternity. Because of this, if they are faithful the the promises made, they and their families will be reunited in the eternities. It is so comforting to know that I will see my father when I pass to the other side. Though we miss him terribly, it is comforting to know that we can be together again someday. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

A testimony is a firm conviction and spiritual knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world. That by Him and through Him all mankind may be able to return to live with God in Heaven. A testimony is given through the Holy Spirit. Mormons also testify that The Book of Mormon is a true book, given to Joseph Smith, and he translated the book by the gift and power of God. Also, that God continues to reveal His will to a living prophet on the earth today, namely, Thomas S. Monson. Show more Show less
