Hi I'm Jonathan

I'm an EMT and a premed student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending university and am majoring in Public Health. I've been applying to medical school and will start med school next year. I'm really excited to become a doctor. I love the opportunity to serve others and learn about the human body. I look forward to finding ways to reduce health disparities and prevent chronic disease. I also love playing the piano, singing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandmother's ancestors were neighbors of Joseph Smith and they accepted the message of the Restoration of the Gospel when he shared it with them. They and other ancestors crossed the plains of the American West to Utah to escape persecution for their beliefs. The gospel of Jesus Christ is not only a tradition in my family, but a way of life and a commitment to be better people so that one day we can live together with our Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ. However, I have not just accepted this because it was what I was taught. It was a personal journey for me and everyone in my family. God has answered my prayers and I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He did indeed call the prophet Joseph Smith to restore the gospel again on the earth.

How I live my faith

When I was baptized I promised to always remember Jesus Christ and His personal sacrifice for my sins. Every week I renew my commitment to Christ when I take the bread and water at church. And since I know I need daily reminders, I also try my best to remember Him throughout the week by reading the scriptures and praying daily. I am currently a Sunday School teacher at my chapel and prepare lessons based on the scriptures and the words of the current prophet and apostles. I learn so much about how I need to better myself every time I teach.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

We believe that God always wants to have a living prophet on the earth to guide His children, like He did with Noah or Moses. We also believe that after Judas betrayed Jesus, the Apostles were inspired to call another apostle named Matthias as it says in Acts 1. Later they also called Paul to be an Apostle and He was instrumental in taking the gospel to many people. They would have continued to fill vacancies, but there was so much persecution against them that the Apostles could not call new Apostles when others were killed and therefore the church faded away. We believe that God has once again called a prophet and 12 Apostles to guide us today. I know that these men are true Apostles of Jesus Christ because whenever I hear them speak, I feel the peace of the Holy Spirit tell me that their words come from God. Show more Show less
