Hi I'm Tevya

I'm an husband, father, startup entrepreneur, website creator, team leader, optimist, essentialist, life-hacker, and a Mormon.

About Me

I started my own business several years ago, and have been getting my "school of hard-knocks" MBA ever since. I hope to officially announce that my "real world MBA" is complete soon, as my business hits some financial goals that we've worked for years to achieve. I feel I'm better off than most who go to a traditional business program because 1. I'll have a lot more real-world knowledge and experience. And 2. I won't have nearly as much debt as a top-tier MBA school graduate will have. I'll be far ahead in both categories. One of my greatest goals in creating my own business is to be able to spend more time with my family. I want to be a bigger part of my kid's lives, and have more time to spend making memories with my wife, than many husbands and father's are able to. Currently I work more than 40hrs most weeks, but I have a flexibility that others don't. For example we can make the 7hr drive to go stay with my wife's parents for 2 or 3 weeks at a time, because I can work from almost anywhere. We're also getting closer and closer to our financial goals, which will allow me to scale back and work less. I look forward to that time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because living the Gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy. I am a Mormon (as one great scholar said) not because I can prove God exists, but because I have a relationship with him. It may sound trite, but as I've tried to follow Christ's example more, I've felt his love and blessings increase in my life. I have also had many spiritual experiences that have created and grown that relationship with God. It's confirmed to me that, Jesus Christ lives and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the church that contains all the keys and doctrines of His gospel. The Church itself is certainly not perfect, because it's composed of imperfect people. And it never will be as long as it's a par of this imperfect world. But that's part of the beauty of it: the Church is striving for perfection as a whole, just like we are individually. I don't feel out of place as an imperfect person, because we're all in it together. We're all part of the church, to learn, grow, repent, and heal, together.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by implementing it into every aspect of my life. In my business, for example, I try to run it in a way that I won't be ashamed to report to my Heavenly Father in my evening prayers. We try to treat everyone really good, especially our clients. We try to use the Spirit as a guide in our business decisions. We strive to be open and completely honest about everything we do. I also live my faith in our family, with daily prayer, scripture study, and trying to make gospel study a part of our family culture. As well as in my daily life. I look for ways to help and serve others, including serving in the Church.
