Hi I'm Emily

I am a new mom through the miracle of adoption. I love to write. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Virginia and I love everything about the East Coast. I have a medium sized family with two wonderful parents and three amazing siblings. My family is my life and I love spending time with each of my family members. My husband means the world to me. We've been married for six and a half years and are now trying to get through graduate school! We love to go hiking together and spend many Saturdays in the mountains! I love to be creative. I love to create beautiful things out of just ordinary things. Crocheting, sewing, baking, and piano playing are a few of my favorite things to do. Our family recently grew to three with the adoption of our beautiful baby girl. We are so grateful for the miracle of adoption!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this Church is true. I don't know who I would be without my religion. I don't know where I would be if I wasn't a Mormon. To me, being Mormon is not just a Sunday church. It's a lifestyle. It's a way of thinking. It's hope, it's faith, it's testimony. I am a Mormon because I know the Church is true. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live and love us. I know that they appeared to Joseph Smith and spoke with him. I know it. I can't think of any other words to describe it, except to say that I know it is true. I just know. I want to follow Christ and become more like Him so that I can live with Him and my family again someday. I'm a Mormon because of how the gospel makes me feel. Reading the scriptures daily, striving to always have a prayer in my heart, going to Church, teaching my daughter about the gospel and about our Savior, makes me feel so uplifted and encouraged and hopeful. It reminds me that my life has a purpose and my Heavenly Father and Savior love me. I'm a Mormon because this gospel is the good news. I can rejoice because of the knowledge we have of our Savior and His Atonement for us. I can rejoice because He knows me, my weaknesses and my strengths, and He loves me with an infinite love. I can rejoice because despite my many shortcomings there is a way back to my loving Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith daily by making good choices and doing things which will be pleasing unto God. I try to serve my fellowmen and love others. I try to have faith and hope that all will turn out well in the end if I try to do my best. Each Sunday I teach a group of six year olds about the gospel. And each Sunday I am truly impressed by the faith of these little children. They are so pure, so innocent, so full of faith. They love their Heavenly Father. I am so blessed to be their teacher, as I learn more from them each week than they probably learn from me. I try to read from the Book of Mormon daily. I know it is another testament of Jesus Christ. When I read from it my day is so much brighter and full of life. I feel the Spirit that comes into my life when I read the Book of Mormon daily. I try my best to continually trust in God and trust in His plan. I know things will always work out best when we trust in Him and have faith instead of fear.
