Hi I'm David

I'm a happy, red-headed Mormon in hot and sunny Arizona.

About Me

I'm 24 years old. Life is good. I'm taking classes at the community college getting ready to transfer to Arizona State and I'm working part time taking care of cars and equipment for the police department. I live away from home now, but my parents and my five brothers and sisters and fourteen nieces and nephews are close enough to visit. I like to hike, play sports, and sing. My faith defines me. Jesus Christ is everything to me. The feeling I get when I go to church each Sunday or read the scriptures or pray or help those in need reassures me that there is a God who cares about me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon and looking back, I can see the difference the gospel of Jesus Christ has made for me in my life. I was taught at a young age to go to church every week and to pray everyday. My parents and leaders of the Church urged me to stay away from drugs and alcohol and pornography and warned me about the consequences of using them. Thankfully, I chose to listen to them and because I did, I feel like I avoided a lot of hurt and disappointment. Even though I may not have believed or understood everything I was taught right away, I can look back now and see by my own experience that the way I have been taught to live and believe is true. I know it for myself through personal experience with the Holy Ghost, through feelings, and by trial and error. I know for myself that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that there are prophets alive on the earth today. It's because I believe in these things that I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying each day to do what I believe God wants me to do. I don't know everything, but I know that God wants me to be happy and to help others to be happy too. I have a job and I'm going to school, but I do my best to make time for God. I go to church every Sunday - I never miss. I read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I try to help other people when I see a need. I'm just trying to be a good person and do what God asks me to do. That's how I live my faith.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

David
We try to help everyone and anyone who needs help. Many of my friends are Mormon and attend church with me each Sunday so it is very easy to find opportunities to help them when they need it. But I am not exclusive in my efforts to help others. I have had ample opportunity to help those of other faiths and I always enjoy doing so. Last week, my sister and I saw a young man on the side of a busy road pushing his car. I got out and helped him push his car the rest of the way while my sister took over driving our car. We then gave him a ride to school a couple of miles away. He wasn't Mormon, in fact, he didn't even speak English. But we were happy to be able to help him when he needed it. Show more Show less
