Hi I'm Kathy

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, and a cousin. Best of all, I am a grandmother. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love children. Along with my husband of 33 years, we’ve had the blessing of raising seven children. I enjoy a weekly “Grandma Day" with several of my seven grandchildren. If I need a lift from any discouragement, they provide it. My grandchildren keep me laughing; they are so precious.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a seven generation Mormon on my mother’s side of the family. However, my father is a convert. Even after 60 years, my father is the only baptized member of the Church in his immediate family. I was raised watching both scenarios: established Mormon traditions on one side, and non-interest from the other. From my earliest memory, I have always loved everything I learned by attending church. I was born a believer; and it was easy to live what I was taught. Nevertheless, I have come to know for myself this is Christ's Church, and I have every confident the way it was restored really happened. Did Joseph Smith see who he said he saw? Did God the Father, and His son, Jesus Christ speak directly to him? YES! Did an Angel really appear to Joseph Smith and give him an ancient record recorded on gold plates, which he translated into another book of holy scripture? YES! Does God speak through living prophets today? Yes, He does. I have an unshakeable assurance it’s all true. Fortunately, we are encouraged to find out for ourselves. Prayer works! We just need to ask with a sincere, believing heart; and He will answer. Because we are His children, He loves us and will not ignore our concerns. I know Heavenly Father knows me personally. If He knows and cares about me, then surely, He cares for all His children. The blessing of my membership in the Church means everything to me. I feel so fortunate to have the teachings of Jesus Christ in my life--for all my life. I know this is His Church restored in its fullness, complete with the blessings of His Priesthood. I believe this Church and its teachings provide life with meaning, purpose, and direction.

How I live my faith

I study the scriptures; and love the inspiration and direction they provide. I pray often to express thanks to God for my many blessings, and to ask for His help and comfort in my daily concerns. I attend church each Sunday and accept opportunities to serve. Currently, I teach songs to the children in the Church about gospel truths. This opportunity brings me great satisfaction. I love watching the light in a child’s eyes when they learn about our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I've had many opportunities to serve children, teenage young women, as well as adult women in the Church over my life time. Within the children's organization, I've organized activities, programs, and led teachers for hundreds of children for over a quarter of a century. I've participated in teaching classes, and leading youth activities to encourage teenagers to have the courage to live moral lives, and to learn to serve others.
