Hi I'm Jack

I'm a Husband, Dad, Grandfather, Retired Fireman, Mechanic, Woodworker, Builder and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1974. I have a great family that I enjoy quite a bit. I recently retired from my career as a Fire Captain, I spent over 33 years in the Fire Service. I enjoy working with my hands, working on cars, building things with wood, working in the yard, etc. I enjoy walking our dogs with my wife. I am also quite athletic, playing a lot of different sports, but baseball/softball are my favorite team sports. Even though I'm in my late 50's I'm still in pretty good shape and enjoy staying active.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a catholic home, my Mom was catholic, my Dad didn't attend any church. My brother and I went to Catechism when we were young, but stopped attending church by the time I was about 10 years old. After meeting my future wife working in a grocery store, I became interested in the Church. I had never even heard of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints before I met her. As we dated, I noticed something different about her. I started the missionary lessons and it all made sense to me. I joined the Church in early 1974 and in mid 1974 I married my wife. My early years in the Church were a bit difficult for me. I had a difficult time gaining a good strong testimony. I felt the Church was true, but had a hard time becoming a truly committed member of the Church. I was luke warm in most things concerning the Church. Then nearly 20 years after joining I had a little incident that changed the way I looked at things. I fell down the stairs of our home holding our six month old daughter. She was OK, I took the brunt of it. But the fall knocked something loose that made me desire the truth about why we are here on this earth. Through earnest prayer and scripture study, I received a witness of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I still falter occasionally as we all do, but the testimony I have is strong and still growing.

How I live my faith

I try to live the Gospel the best I can. I currently serve in our Ward as the First Assistant to our High Priest Group Leader. I am a pretty faithful Home Teacher and serve in our local Temple each week as an ordinance worker. I look for opportunities to help wherever and whenever they present themselves.
