Hi I'm Melody

I'm from Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Lewisville with a roommate. I work hard most of the week and when I'm not doing that, I spend time with my family. I also like to spend my time doing yoga, reading, listening to music and learning to speak French.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I joined the church, I was not a Christian. I honestly wasn't anything. I didn't believe in God, nor did I want to. My new stepfather is a member in the church, and every now and then while I was visiting him and my mother, missionaries would come over to talk about the gospel. For some odd reason haha, I seemed to be over there for whatever reason when they dropped by. So, one day I asked them to stop by my house, and from there I started taking lessons from them. At first, I was skeptical, since I didn't believe, but then they asked me to do something that I didn't like to do: pray. I really didn't want to when they asked because I didn't think God would listen. After all the stuff that I have done in my life, I thought myself an unworthy person. Unworthy of salvation, grace, and forgiveness. I couldn't even forgive myself, so why would God? So, with no faith and a ton of doubt, I got down on my knees and prayed. As I started praying while the missionaries were teaching me, I began to change a little more each day. My moods were improved and my diligence in reading the Book of Mormon grew. I was going to church, praying and reading. It wasn't too long after I started attending church services that I went to my first baptism. It was an amazing experience! It was the first time I had felt the Holy Spirit reach out to me. Soon after, the missionaries asked when I wanted to be baptized. At first, in my mind, I was thinking, "Oh no! I'm going to be dragged into this. I don't even know if I believe in this!" So, the missionaries asked me to pray, again. This time they asked me to pray for God to let me know if this was the true church. So, that is what I did. The next day, I had my answer. I then talked to a friend that I had made when I started going to church there and told her that I wanted to be baptized. She was so excited, we could hardly wait until that Sunday when we were going to tell the missionaries the good news. I was baptized a week later.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily by studying the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Also, I do what the missionaries from my ward taught me: pray your way through every day. I'm also a visiting teacher with another lady from my ward.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the Mormon church is a rewarding experience. It is a daily journey through reading scriptures and praying. You learn something new everyday, even if you have read the scripture a million times because you are always growing and changing. Show more Show less
