Hi I'm Thomas

I'm a husband, a father, a musician, an educator, and I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

For the last few years, I have worked for non-profit and governmental agencies to advocate for and help migrant workers and their family members. I have taught GED classes in English and Spanish. I am in graduate school at the moment, and I hope to have my Masters of Public Administration by 2015. I am a husband to a wonderful, supportive, beautiful wife, and a father to an adorable son and, very soon, a daughter. I play a few instruments and sing, and enjoy good art and music of all types. I am very interested in Latin American literature and history, as well as policy analysis.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith brings me balance and perspective. I love the Book of Mormon and the pure truths that it contains. I have had numerous experiences in my life in which I have felt the guiding hand of the Lord and the influence of the Holy Spirit, and through those moments I have gained a firm, unshakeable testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. While I still have many questions, I feel like the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints provides me with the answers that I need to bring me happiness and perspective.

How I live my faith

I teach an early morning Seminary class. Seminary is an opportunity for high school students to intensively study each book of scripture during the school year. Although learning about scripture is important, the main goal of Seminary is to help students withstand the many temptations around them during the school day and to aid them in building a relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. While it is a sacrifice to prepare each night for the coming lesson, it blesses me in numerous ways. I am able to strengthen my own understanding and testimony of Jesus Christ, and I am also able to help others to gain the happiness that I feel I have obtained through faith in Christ and repentance.
