Hi I'm Katy

I love science, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I a student teacher of science and health in beautiful Utah. I am a young wife, and lover of all things beautiful. I paint, sing, and try DIY home improvements in my spare time. I love nature and the outdoors. I love to take scenic drives, and always stop to inspect interesting rock formations, birds nests, or especially poky looking cacti. I love to take walks with my husband around our neighborhood and insist on him smelling flowers with me, or run our fingers over a particularly well-manicured lawn. I love anything reminiscent of the 1950's and 60's, and try purposely to add a hint of retro to everything around me. I grow plants in my house and paint pictures of birds and fruit. I will someday have the most adorable little chubby babies, and I will surround them with adorable little animals.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is the true organized church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. I have a personal testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and I know that the prophet of our church is truly inspired of God. I also know that Heavenly Father hears and answers my prayers. At all times, I know that I can turn to Him. In times of trouble, He has strengthened, comforted, and lifted me up. I know that He knows and cares for each one of His children. Most recently, I suffered a miscarriage, and I was able to rely on Him for all I needed. He comforted me and reassured me. I know that He has a plan for me that is much better than any plan that I could dream of. He knows the desires of my heart, and wants to bless me. I know through faithfulness to the commandments, I can return to live with Heavenly Father and my Savior again. I am so blessed to be sealed to my family in the temple, so that we can too be together forever.

How I live my faith

I teach and work with the small children ages 18 months to 3 years old. I spend two hours with them every Sunday, and love to feel their special spirits. They are so willing to love and accept others, and it makes me want to be more like them.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

You can know for yourself that Mormonism is true by studying the Book of Mormon, and then asking your Heavenly Father sincerely in prayer. If you have a real desire to know for yourself, Heavenly Father will help you to know that it is true. You may feel this in many different ways. It is a unique experience for everyone. For me, I prayed and felt a warm, peaceful feeling in my heart. Whenever I thought about the church, I automatically felt at peace. I knew that this peace was my answer. Show more Show less
