Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a husband, student, musician, Russian-language enthusiast, and a Mormon.

About Me

I live with my wife in Charlottesville, VA. We both grew up in Northern Virginia and met each other in the spring and summer of 2008. We developed an amazing friendship and soon fell deeply in love. We were married December 27, 2008. I served a mission in eastern Ukraine where I learned to speak Russian in order to better serve the wonderful people there. Upon returning home I continued to study and learn the language and it has now become one of my biggest interests and persuits. I am pursuing my undergraduate degree in Russian Language and International relations. My wife supports me in everything that I do especially my education. I love music. especially bluegrass, country and rock. I play the accustic guitar mostly to destress but also to serenade my wife with songs that I write her. I enjoy recreational running. My wife and I often go on long runs in the morning together.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and I was raised as member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I am a Mormon because I believe that it is the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. In the most sacred and intimate way that is, on my knees in prayer, I gained a testimony of the love of my Savior Jesus Christ and in the cleansing and strengthening power of His Atonemnet. Being a member of the church my whole life I have gained countless blessings in my life, but the two that stand out the most to me is the joy and peace that I feel in my life each day as I am obedient to my Father in Heaven and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

There is a hymn that enjoy hearing the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sing called "Take Time to Be Holy" That simple phrase reminds me that each day offers moments in my life to be close to my Heavenly Father. One way is through prayer. I can turn to him in prayer often. Each day I offer prayers of gratitude, and I seek guidence and comfort that I stand in need of. When I pray I feel the love of my Savior. His atonment is the sacrifice of His life for us and its through Jesus Christ I know I can be with my Father in Heaven again. Having that that relationship in mind as I pray I know that I what I pray for will be heard and understood, because Christ understands all of our needs. I live my faith each day when I pray and when I study the scriptures. I am strengthened by the testimonies and the teachings of prophets of old who taught about Jesus Christ and bore witness of the Savior of the world. The Holy Ghost who is a member of the Godhead bears whitness of Christ and I have gained my own testimony of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Ghost. I have felt the whispering of the Holy Ghost often when have been in the middle of a prayer. I have received comfort and counsel and understanding by the power of the Holy Ghost as I have prayed. My faith in Jesus Christ has helped me be a better husband and to create an atmosphere in my home where the Spirit of God can dwell. In what ever responsibilities I hold in life whether they be at home, work, school or at church I know that the Lord is aware of me. Each day I can make good choices that whould invite the Holy Ghost in my life. I pray and study the scriptures I attend my church meeting give service to my family and other members of the church. I live my faith by staying as close to the Lord as I possibly can and taking time to be holy.
