Hi I'm Mileka

I'm a mother of 6. I'm passionate about life. I'm not perfect and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married mother of 6. I am an educator. I taught in the public school system for 10 years and now I teach my children at home. I am passionate about family and my personal interests. I study althernative health and healing in my spare time. I take life one day at a time and live by my personal mantra, "simplicity."

Why I am a Mormon

I have struggled with many things throughout my life and being a Mormon is the only thing that brings peace to my soul and happiness to my heart.

How I live my faith

I use each day to learn more about myself and my purpose here upon the earth. Each day is an opportunity to learn and grow, if we choose to do so. We have made a commitment to strengthen our family. We say regular family prayers, read the scriptures, and designate a time for family meetings, learning about our faith and family fun. At church I work with children ages 18 months to 3 years old. We attend church regularly and participate in church acitivies.

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

To give those who have already passed on (who were not baptized while alive) the opportunity to do so. Baptisms for the dead are performed via proxy (in behalf of somone who has passed). Show more Show less

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Our body is a house or building that our spirit resides in. Thus, we must take care of the building or it will decay. Without a body as a house, our spirit will no longer have a place to stay while upon the earth. Our body is the house of our spirit. Our body is a tool by which our spirits can do things. Think of a tool you use often. It may be a tool used for carpentry, for use in the kitchen, or even a technology item. What happens if you neglect that tool? What happens if it is not functioning properly? It makes it more difficult to do your job or finish your project, doesn't it? Tools that work well help us to get our projects done to the highest quality possible. If our body is our tool, then we need to take care of our bodies to make sure that they are functioning properly so that we can complete our project, which is our purpose and mission on earth, to the highest quality possible. In the dictionary, it states that a temple is: a place devoted to a special purpose. Our bodies are temples because they are used for a special purpose...to house our spirit. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Jesus Christ is the untimate example. By striving to live as he did, His life can influence how we live our lives. We can create relationships (with family and friends) based on the principles that he lived by and taught (unconditional love, patience, long suffering, etc.). We can create these strongly bonded relationships only when WE first strive to live as He did. We can only give to others what we have. We can share a cookie with someone, but we must have the cookie first. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Temples are not places of secret, rather they are sacred (holy) places. Temples are special. They are the house of the Lord. Because temples are special places, one must abide by certain rules to enter into them. Just think about it...not just anyone can walk into the White House. They have rules that you must abide by. They perform a background check and make sure that you are permissible before letting you into the building. Temples are special, holy, sacred places where one must be permissible/worthy to enter into. In temples special work is done. Couples are married and families are sealed and connected together forever. Marriages and family sealings are also done for those who have passed on who did not have the opportunity to do so while alive, as well as baptisms. Show more Show less
