Hi I'm Daniel

I am a returned missionary, a husband, future father, and a geek :D

About Me

I am not very good at these about me sections. I never know what to say. Hi I like long walks on the beach, and collecting shells? Well the basic story is that I grew up in southern Utah and to me it will always be home. My other home is Nampa Idaho. This is where I met my wonderful wife Karlina in Institute Choir. This is where our parents live, and we love our family. Family means everything to us. I never wanted any major title in this world other than "husband" and "father". I love art, movies, volleyball, and food...especially food. My current endeavors include: supporting my wife while we await our first born child, learning Japanese (for no particular reason other than I want to), and learning how to play the ukulele. I'm kinda eclectic in my tastes and lifestyle. I like a little of this and a little of that from just about everywhere. Life is awesome.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church since I was a small boy. My grandparents on my dads side were converts, who had intended to prove the missionaries wrong. Quite obviously it didn't work out as they planned. Growing up I was taught the basic doctrines of the gospel. All the principles and ordinances of salvation. I have always loved the church, and the more I read and learn about the church just serves to affirm the testimony that was planted in my heart as a child. I've seen the gospel work miracles in my own life and the lives of others. I have seen its effect on others and how it blesses their lives. I just completed a 2 year mission, so you know my faith was questioned, tried, and ridiculed. Still when I pray at night I know in my heart that what I have is true. To those of you who would still say that I am just a brain-washed little Mormon boy I would invite you to do as I have done and honestly and sincerely study the teachings of this the restored church of Jesus Christ, as well as the doctrines of other religions and pray and ask God if this church is not true. I know it is.

How I live my faith

I actively participate in my church meetings and go out every month (or at least most months) to meet with other members of my ward to share a message with them (home teaching). I study my scriptures and share what I learn on facebook and with my family and friends. I trust that The Lord will take care of me regardless of what life throws at me. And I teach Sunday School for my Elders Quorum 2 Sundays a month

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

There is nothing secret about the temples, but there is a lot that is sacred about the temples. As cliche as that may sound, that is the truth. It's a matter of preparation; we want all to qualify for the blessings of the temple. In the temples we learn eternal truths about our Heavenly Fathers Plan. As a part of that learning we receive sacred ordinances, as a result we take upon ourselves associated covenants (promises), and responsibilities. Should a person take these covenants lightly it could bring upon them eternal consequences. It is for this reason especially that a person must prepare and prove themselves worthy to receive the ordinances at the temple, and why the specifics of these ordinances are only discussed inside the temple. In addition we also provide opportunities for our deceased ancestors, who died without a knowledge of the gospel, to receive and accept all ordinances pertinent to salvation by means of vicarious proxy.
