Hi I'm Douglas

I was born and raised in Southern California. I'm a Financial Planner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 35 year old father of 5 children. I love playing volleyball & basketball. I love watching almost any sport, but mostly college football and college basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I was born into a Mormon family. But I stayed a Mormon because I learned for myself that what this church teaches is true. When I went off to college, it was the first time when I was really on my own and had to question what I was taught while growing up. I believed my parents, but did I truly know for myself? So I took the challenge to read the Book of Mormon on my own and I prayed to my Heavenly Father to find out if what I was reading was true. I mean, if I wanted to know what is true about God, who better to ask than God? And so I did... and the answer came in a very special way for me. As I prayed alone in my dorm room one night, a tremendous amount of peace came over me and I recognized the feelings I experienced as the fruits of Spirit. I knew it was the Holy Ghost confirming that the true gospel of Jesus Christ was found in the Book of Mormon and in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have in no way lived a perfect life since that day, but I know that I have the truth to help me overcome my weaknesses. Heavenly Father is real. His Son is Jesus Christ and His Atonement is real. We can be forgiven of our sins. We can have peace in this life. And with the true gospel of Jesus Christ, we can be prepared for the life to come. I'm grateful to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I'm a Sunday School teacher for the 10 & 11 year-old boys. I also have the responsibility to care for and visit 2 families from our congregation.
