Hi I'm Joel

I'm a Washington farm boy. I work to help feed the world. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up on a farm in southeastern Washington taking care of cattle, corn, wheat, and hay. One can usually find me with my hands in the dirt, where I love the blessing of being a caretaker over the amazing creations of our Heavenly Father. I love all of the sciences and am currently studying agronomy, the science of growing crops, at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Rexburg. The plan of God and all of His grand creations are so perfect, and I love to learn about each of them and desire that all can learn to become better stewards of this great earth. When not outside, I enjoy reading a good book and spending time with my family!

Why I am a Mormon

The peace and joy of the gospel is such a blessing in my life. Being a Mormon is a way to overcome trials with a hope and a knowledge that everything will be OK. It is having a personal relationship with the most powerful Being in the universe, whom I have the privilege of addressing as Father. Most importantly, it is a way, through covenants and ordinances, to return to live with Him and with my current and future family. These words of my Savior are most comforting: "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me" (Doctrine and Covenants 19:23). I testify of the peace received as I have built my foundation on the rock of Christ and promise that the same will be true for all who diligently seek Him. And that is why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my hardest to follow the principles our Savior has taught us. This includes attending church services each Sunday to receive comfort and guidance that gives a purpose to everything I do. It also includes daily study of the word of God, personal prayer with my Father in Heaven, and looking for ways to serve those around me. At the age of nineteen, I served as a full-time missionary of the Church in southern Mexico. There I had the opportunity to learn about and come to love the Mexican culture and people and share with them the joy that living the gospel has brought to me and my family. Since that time, I have helped to teach the young men where I live and also served in a Spanish-speaking congregation in my hometown. I am glad to serve wherever I am called because I owe the Lord so much for the bounteous blessings which I receive each day.
