Hi I'm Austin

I play soccer and basketball. i'm kinda a book worm at times. i served a mission in Minnesota. and i am a Mormon college student.

About Me

i love to play any sport but my favorites are basketball, soccer. when i was in high school i played the french horn and the trumpet for our high school band. i'm an eagle scout through and through. it was one of the most fun things I've done. i served a mission in the Minnesota Minneapolis mission on a bike in the dead of winter and loved it. i am the second of five children. the second to go on a mission as well. i have two awesome parents. i am currently going to college. having to deal with doing school and having a social life. My faith though is very important to me as well. i am taking part in an institute committee on top of college. i have the best friends that are shining examples to me. oh and i'm a red head :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was rasied in as a mormon. But just like everyone else I had to learn if it was true for myself. When I was in high school I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon. I did it. at the end of the book is a challenge that tells us that if we truely want an anwser andplan on acting on that anwser then we need to ask god meaning to pray to know if it is true. I got my anwser it didnt come right, but after a while, i got my anwser from studing and praying to know if these things are true and it came to me like "oh i knew that this was true all along." it happened that way for me but we are all different so god will anwser us all in our special way. i still have my stuggles and challenges but my faith is what keeps me going and trying to share what i know.

How I live my faith

when i was younger my dad taught me a valuable lesson that it is better to give then to receive. that is how i try to live my life. my favorite thing is to give service and not let people know. i have shoveled a lot of driveways and mowed a lot of yard for those that couldn't and often i got nothing in return except a thank you and that was only if they caught me in the act. sence then i was called to be a missionary in the minnesota minneapolis mission when i was about 19.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Austin
no i have helped many people in my life that arent mormons. when i was younger i lived across the street from this elderly couple. this couple wasnt members. my dad would always have me go over and help them in any way that i could be it shovel the snow, cut the grass, or even help bring in the groshreys. more resently i was able to help in a disaster. a tornado touched down in minneapolis. i got to help with the recovery. as "mormons" we try to help as much as we can in every way possible. What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Austin
attending church for me is more of a group activity but the temple is for the person. it is more individual than going to church. Show more Show less
