Hi I'm Luke

I was born in the San Francisco bay area. I'm a 29 year old college student.

About Me

My dad met the missionaries for the first time when I was just 3 years old. Soon, he would be baptized along with the rest of our family. It was because he could relate to the young men that taught him. They had gone hunting and fishing with their fathers just as my father had with his. The Gospel Of Jesus Christ has meant so much to me in my life. Studying the scriptures has made all the difference in my life. I'm thankful I was born in a country that offers the education I was able receive.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because I know the Book of Mormon to be true. I first learned for myself that the Book of Mormon was actually an ancient record of scripture while I was serving in the military shortly after 9/11. I was reading the book my father had bought me and by so doing felt a strong feeling in my heart and the thought seemed to enter my mind that the only way I would ever know if the book (or anything else, for that matter) was true would be by that very feeling and by studying and searching it out to know if it were true. My knowledge of the Gospel has blessed my life in countless ways since that night in 2001.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures every day. Sometimes its only for a few minutes, other times its for a little longer. I read them usually in the morning after I get dressed but before I have breakfast. Sometimes I read them during breakfast. Studying the scriptures every day is how I measure my progress. I pray on a pretty regular basis and attend church meetings when I'm able. But most importantly I try to be nice to people; patient and caring, how the Lord was, and wants me to be.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Joseph Smith Jr. was 'just' a kid that sought out the Lord to have some of his own questions answered. I don't think he realized at the time what kind of impact he would have; most of us don't often realize the impact we can have on others. He did what the Lord asked of him; by keeping the commandments and by being obedient he was able to have an important role in reestablishing the Lord's authority again upon the earth. He was murdered for what he believed. Joseph Smith, I believe was able to be an instrument in the Lord's hands, to do a work that needed to be done. Very much like if we are willing to be so obedient. It's amazing all that the Lord has done for us, His children; and all that He continues to do for us. Show more Show less
