Hi I'm Thomas Whitaker

I'm a businessman, a runner, a musician who is grateful for my role as husband & father. It is a great privilege to be a Mormon!

About Me

I've been a member of the Church my whole life. I continually find myself being converted to Jesus Christ - I love the path that I'm on. I love spending time with my wife and two kids. I also haven't lived in Utah my whole life, but feel this is the place I'm supposed to be right now. My faith has blessed my life so much. It makes the hard times easier, and it makes life in general full of purpose and meaning. The world is full of so much confusion and negativity. The gospel helps me be kinder and see the bigger picture. The commandments may seem strict to some, but I'm so grateful for the focus they give me and the peace I feel as a result of living them.

Why I am a Mormon

The world is full of hardship, grief, loss, anger, pain, limitations, and other difficult challenges. The Church provides direction for me and ample opportunities to actively serve, learn, and grow. When difficult circumstances arise in life, the Plan of Happiness (God's Plan) helps me keep things in perspective. Why are we here on earth? Where do we go after we die? In times where life's real questions are posed, I find great peace in the knowledge I have. There is so much doubt and fear in the world. The Gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon help me have faith in my Savior Jesus Christ, and help me look forward to a much brighter future - now and throughout the eternities! I'm so very grateful for this knowledge. Now that I have this knowledge I feel it is my duty and privledge to share it with other people.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a teacher in the children's organization (Primary). I love teaching the class with my wife. We take turns every other week, and we support each other in our teaching and maintaining a great spirit in our class. The children we teach are wonderful and we feel the Holy Ghost confirming the messages we share with them each week. My wife and I also attend the temple together. We love the temple and the blessings that can be had there. The Church has so many different programs to help its members progress. There are Sunday School classes, marriage classes, youth classes, Addiction Recovery Program classes, Family History classes, Seminary and much more. Learning and growing through scripture study and repentance are a big part of my life. I feel the Holy Ghost working in my life and helping me endure to the end and enjoy the journey! Most of all, I am so grateful that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and for my testimony of God, our Eternal Father, in Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer and for the guidance of the Holy Ghost in my life.

Why do you have 12 Apostles? They were just meant to be around for the time of Jesus Christ, not to be replaced with new apostles.

Thomas Whitaker
Christ set up his church when he was here on earth. We follow the same structure of the church that Christ set up when he was here. It includes having 12 special witnesses serving the Church as Apostles. I am so grateful for the guidance that I receive in my life from our modern day Apostles. I know they, too, are called by Jesus. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Thomas Whitaker
Unequiocably, Yes. We are Christians. We believe in Christ, we hope in Christ and we love him as our Savior and Redeemer. I am so grateful for his Atonement and the cleansing effects it has had on my life. People may disagree with the greater role that we know Christ served by visiting ancient America. But just because we disagree in this point should not exclude us from the narrower definition of Christian. Show more Show less
