Hi I'm Joe

I'm a father of 5 who is a stay-at-home Dad and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a domestic engineer!! In other words I am a stay-at-home Dad. I love to play pool, pingpong, and board games with my kids. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Bachelors degree in English with a writing emphasis. I have had a variety of jobs but the one I enjoyed the most was when I was a Director of a group home for at risk teenagers. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and I have constant headaches so I am disabled now and my wife had to leave being a stay-at-home Mom and go to work since I could not. We have five amazing children ranging from ages 8 to 14. We have three boys and two girls. I absolutely enjoy being a Dad.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because all the parts of the church make sense. It is organized just like Jesus organized his church. It has a prophet and twelve apostles and there is so much more. I love the emphasis on families. I have five children and I love how involved they are and how happy they are to be in church. Every Sunday my family and I are inspired by those who are speaking. I love that every position in the church is volunteers. Every Sunday we are blessed with members who teach us. I am Mormon because I am blessed to feel the Spirit so strong in all that we do in church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by using my talents to help others. I have a talent in teaching and public speaking. I am a member of a mens group within the church and I teach frequently in that class. We also organize and do home teaching for men and their families where my son and I go and give a short lesson to members in their home once a month. We also ask how they are doing and if they need anything. My wife does something similar where she and another woman go out and give a lesson to a female member of the church. I am also a member of a volunteer group called Let's Go Fishing. We have a large pontoon and take senior citizens out for a boat ride or to do some fishing. I also help the missionaries with their work. Sometimes I go out with the when they are teaching and I help. I try to live my faith in everything I do. My family prays at all meals and at various other times. I love and appreciate all that God has blessed us with and we give thanks to him many times in a day. As I said above and I will say it again I love how strong the Spirit is when we are blessed with the opportunity to give service to someone. What an amazing feeling it is.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

It will impact every part of your marriage and family relationships. All Christ talked about was love and what is more important than love in our marriage and family relationships. By following his example as best we can we can only improve these aspects of our lives. Christ gave the ultimate sacrifice because of his love for us and for Heavenly Father. In marriages and family relationships many of the successful times happen because of a family member making a sacrifice. It might be a sacrifice of time, effort, attention, etc. We sacrifice these things willingly and with great love much like Christ did for us. Our faith can light the path for us at times when we struggle with our decisions concerning our marriages and family relationships. Our faith in Christ can uplift us and will always help us fly in the right direction. I am so very thankful for my faith as I never feel alone and the more faith I have the better my marriage and family relationships seem to be. Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

It is the building block for all of society. A good family usually leads to confident helpful spiritual child who becomes a good man or woman. Our children are our future and we should do whatever we can to ensure that they have the best future we can offer them. If we invest in them it will lead to a better future for all.
