Hi I'm Matthew

I make technology easy to use. I'm a musician, a husband, a dad, a choir director, and a youth mentor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a User Experience professional. This is just a fancy way of saying that I make technology easier and more enjoyable for people to use. I'm the husband of the most amazing woman in the world and dad to 3 awesome, very active kids! I also compose & produce electronic music, direct our church choir and mentor the youth of our congregation.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that God leads the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints through living prophets and apostles. From a very early age, I remember the teachings of Jesus Christ resonating deeply with me. I have specific memories of certain songs and and Sunday school lessons penetrating my heart and mind. It wasn't until my teens that I realized that in these moments, God was whispering peace to my heart through His Holy Spirit. As I grew older, these "moments of peace" became anchors for me, especially when I deeply doubted my faith. By studying the scriptures and living the gospel as best as I can, I continue to experience not only moments of peace but also meaningful interactions with my creator.

How I live my faith

I"m not perfect but I try my hardest to Love and serve God by loving and serving others. My favorite way to do this is through music. Whether its directing a choir, singing in worship services or writing songs with the teens in our congregation, I take every opportunity to use the talents I've been given.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

We believe we lived with God before this life and that everyone on this earth chose to come here. Our goal was to become more like our creator and the only way we could do that was to come to earth. While we're here, we all have 2 things: 1: Time 2: The freedom to choose what we do with our time. With all this in mind, the basic purpose of this life is to learn to consistently choose good over evil. In all this learning, God knew we would make mistakes and disqualify ourselves to return to him. This is Jesus Christ comes into the picture. When (not if) we make mistakes and sin, we can turn to Christ and be forgiven which makes it possible to achieve our ultimate goal. Knowing this helps me have hope in life's more "interesting" moments and gives any pain or suffering I experience more meaning. Show more Show less
