Hi I'm Alan

I'm Young Dad and a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah, but in my adult life have lived all over the Western United States. In my younger days I was an avid sports fanatic and spent most of my leisure time playing Basketball, Volleyball, Ping Pong, Ultimate Frisbee, or any other convenient sport. Now I spend most of my leisure time spending time with and taking care of my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member mostly because I was lucky enough to be born in a family that has the gospel. I am blessed to have ancestors who sought for and recognized truth when they heard it. I am a Mormon because I also believe these truths. Jesus Christ REALLY did live, and die for us. He is our Savior. He set up a Church while he was here on earth, but many of the plain and simple truths were lost. These truths were again restored to the earth in preparation for the second coming of The Messiah. This life is just a tiny fraction of our eternal existence. But it is an important part. It is part of the plan where we have the opportunity to be tried and tested, to learn and to grow. The decisions we make in this life effect our happiness not only in this life, but in the life to come. For me, being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the best way to help me make the decisions that will help me to gain the most joy.

How I live my faith

To live my faith I try and attend church meetings as often as possible. I need the constant nourishment provided by gospel instruction through the holy ghost. I try to live my faith by learning more about it, and become a better person. I try to study the scriptures, and listen to the wisdom and advise given by the Lord's Prophets. I try to do my best to serve others and to sacrifice my time for the benefit of others.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

Alan
We believe that we are literally God's children. He has put us here in family units with Father's and Mother's. In some ways, the family units here on earth will endure through the eternities. Eternal Marriage between a man and a wife is essential to receive all of the blessings that our Father In Heaven has in store for us. Because this doctrine is so sacred, the Church opposes Homosexuality. If society accepts homosexuality as normal, then more people will live that life style. Those who live that lifestyle, cannot receive all the eternal blessings. The Church wants to do whatever it can to help "save as many souls" as possible. For this reason it takes a firm stand on Gay marriage. Show more Show less
