Hi I'm Troy

I am a devoted husband and father, a business professor, a family history and sports enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I are the parents of five wonderful children, three daughters and two sons. I grew up in Utah but have also lived for several years in the Phoenix and San Diego areas (I personally vouch that San Diego has the best climate anywhere in the U.S., if not the world). After working in technology consulting for a few years, I decided to earn a Ph.D. in business, studying organizational behavior and human resource management. I have been a business faculty member now for over a decade and at three different business schools. I love helping people figure out their career decisions and to become better prepared for career success. My other passions include just about all sports, travel with my family, and doing family history research.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a faithful Latter-day Saint family and always believed in God and Jesus Christ. I know that we have a Father in Heaven who knows each of us personally and loves each of us. Further, I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, showed us how to live, died for us, and atoned for our sins and our pains. When I was a teenager, I learned for myself that I believed other principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ were true and determined to serve a Mormon mission. I did subsequently serve in Campinas, Brazil, and that two years of missionary service has become the spiritual foundation of my life. The principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ are an anchor in my life and provide stability in a very turbulent world. I know that Joseph Smith saw the Father and the Son in answer to his sincere prayer and was the instrument for Christ's Church to be restored in our days. We have a living prophet on the earth today, Thomas S. Monson, who receives revelation from the Savior Himself.

How I live my faith

I live my faith first by trying to live like Jesus has taught us in my personal life--praying to my Heavenly Father and studying the scriptures that teach us of Christ and His prophets. I live my faith second by trying my best to teach the Gospel to my family and leading them with kindness, love, and with a firm goal for us to return to our Heavenly Father after we die as a righteous family. I live my faith third by honoring the Priesthood that I hold as I serve others, both as a home teacher (teaching specific families how to better live their faith) and as a leader in my stake in my calling to help strengthen individuals and families throughout my community. I live my faith fourth by just trying to be a good example of Jesus Christ to all with whom I associate--treating all with respect, love, and integrity.
