Hi I'm Kathleen

I grew up in Ohio. I live in the state of Washington. I was a school school teacher, now I'm a full time mom and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay-at-home mother of 4 great kids one boy and three girls. I love being a mom. I have a bachelors degree in Audiology/Speech Language Pathology and a special education teaching degree with a severe/profound endorsement. I have taught Special Education in a Jr High School and worked as a communication disorder specialist in an elementary school. Now I use the skills I learned in my college classes to help me be a better parent. It's amazing how useful those behavior management classes have been when dealing with a two-year old! I also love to take pictures, especially pictures of my kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the spirit confirm to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. I have felt the comfort, peace, and Joy that come through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I have seen evidences in my life that He knows me and loves me. He has blessed me with tender mercies at times in my life when He knew I needed them. He is there waiting for us to reach out to Him, come into His Church and feel His love.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through prayer and scripture study. I try to follow the Savior"s example by being kind and friendly and honest. I have a few women at church that I check in with monthly. We share our testimonies and I make sure they have what they need. I serve in the Nursery at church with children who are between the ages of 18 months and three years. They have a lesson, snack, singing time, and play time. Sometimes I teach a class at church for new members or people who are not members, but interested in learning about our church. I also try to spend two hours a week on missionary work. I can do this by going out to teach lessons with the full time missionaries, inviting new members into my home for a lesson and a treat, or talking to people about my church.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kathleen
Our faith is increased as we draw near to Him in prayer and scripture study. Our faith in Jesus Christ is increased as we strive to live our lives in harmony with His teachings. Each time we live a principle of His Gospel more fully, we are blessed with an increase of faith and a greater feeling of His love for us. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Kathleen
The Lord's house is a house of order. Men and women are inherently different and have different roles. Women have no less power, influence, or ability to participate in the church because we do not hold the priesthood. The Lord has restored His church in wisdom and order and just as there were no female apostles in the time of Christ, there are no female apostles now. Women within the church serve and lead in a variety of ways, not only in the Relief Society (the largest organization of women in the world), but also in other capacities as well. Show more Show less
