Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Mormon, a follower of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am a father of six (all boys except four). I love time with my wife, children, and 22 grandchildren. It is so fun being loved irrationally by those little children. We like to be out in nature or in the yard. I love to follow science news and know most of the wildflowers and trees in our area. I also like gardening, philosophy, astronomy, and fishing.

Why I am a Mormon

I love my Lord, Jesus Christ! My faith, my hopes are in Him. I love my church! It teaches me to live Christ teachings and keep his commandments. My life I have seen many people's lives have been blessed and change for the better through the activity and teachings and service in the church. In my heart of hearts I believe Christ guides us through prophets -- good men who can recieve direction from Him. Each of us can feel His truths and His individual direction for us as we live true to our own conscience.

How I live my faith

I try to follow Christ by emulating Him and practicing being ever better at living His teachings. When hard things happen I trust God knows the truth and understands. I try to be active in political, professional, and church service activities.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Life can throw many things at us. There is no way to be secure in every aspect of our lives. Our prophets have taught us to be prepared by getting education, skills and tools. Though it seems silly to some for me a physician to grow a garden, by trying to follow their counsel I have found recreation, meditation time, and wholesome family time. The most important emergencies though are the life events that wrench our hearts. Christ's teachings are what we need to store up for that. His Gospel gives us help and hope that is invaluable.
