Hi I'm Glenn Williams

I'm studying philosophy. I act. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town in southern Colorado. I am a student at Southern Virginia University. I love acting. I've been in a few plays here on campus--Pride and Prejudice and Shakespeare's As You Like It. I like almost all types music and I sing. I like hanging out with my friends and family when I can. I am an undergraduate student at Southern Virginia University just trying to get by.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is the only religion where I can feel whole. This is the only place where I feel like a member of a family. I lived in New York, and I felt at home there. People loved me like I was a member of their family. The feeling that I feel when I read the Book of Mormon, or listen to the words of any prophet, is such a feeling of happiness. There is nothing like it. It changes lives. It helped me through the hard times in my life. The main reason why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because I prayed about it. I asked if Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and everything else that goes along with that were what God wanted me to do. He answered me--not immediately or in the way that I expected--but He did.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to do my best to help other people. I try to make someone happy by doing something for them everyday. If the only thing that I can do is smile at someone, then I will do that. I served as a missionary, and it was the greatest experience that I could ever have had. I was able to help people that I didn't know. I was able to see the smiles of random people on the street and I could see that they were grateful for the service that I rendered towards them. I also created this thing that I like to do. Every year, on my birthday, I like to buy somebody a gift, or do some act of service for them. I call this my "My Birthday Present." It helps me to help others and to show charity towards them. I know that these things are the things that Christ would have me do. If we have not charity, then we are nothing. What I do, I do for others and, in so doing, I do for Christ. When we are in the service of our fellowmen, we are only in the service of our God. I've also come to find that life is hard. Because of things that I have had to go through, I have learned to appreciate what I have been given and I have to put my faith in Christ or else I will not be able to make it through the rest of the day.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Glenn Williams
The purpose of life is to gain a body and gain experience. We have been given an opportunity to come to an earth to be happy. Life may be difficult, but it is all for our betterment. We need to come out the other side of all of our mess of life happy. We are here to exercise our agency to choose between good, which leads to happiness, and evil, which leads to sorrow. All of these trials help to make us more like our Father in Heaven. When we come to earth, we receive a family. I know that my family is such a great blessing for me. They have helped me out in so many ways. I like to say that God puts us in families that we would never choose to be friends with otherwise and we learn to love them more than anyone else. It is amazing and wonderful when I think that God loves me enough to allow me to come to this world to be with a family and to be more like Him. I like to think that the main purpose of life is to be happy. It's that simple. Show more Show less
