Hi I'm Lorin

I was raised LDS, served a mission, am happily married with kids, and work as a test engineer.

About Me

I enjoy running long distance, playing soccer, playing trumpet and piano, and spending time with family and friends. I've been married for 5 1/2 years to a beautiful woman, and together we have 3 kids. I work as a test engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me so much joy, and because I have received a personal witness through the Holy Ghost that what I believe is true. This witness has been manifested to me in many ways at many different times in my life, and I know God listens to me when I pray and He answers with love always. I love it! Also, having a living Prophet and Apostles who are special witnesses of Jesus Christ today is so comforting, and I enjoy hearing from these leaders on a regular basis.

How I live my faith

I love serving in the Church. Currently, I volunteer as an assistant finance clerk to help member donations go to worthy causes such as temple building. I also volunteer to oversee Sunday School teaching on Sundays to make sure all the teachers have what they need, and help find substitutes for them as needed. I enjoy getting to know my neighbors and enjoy spending time with them, even if they are not members of the LDS Church, since we are all children of God. I have also received the Priesthood of God, with the commission to bless the lives of others in any way I can, and to be an emissary of the Lord Jesus Christ as much as I can, to my family and those who are in need.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Lorin
The Word of Wisdom is a law of health that has been lovingly given to us, to keep our physical bodies in good working condition, which increases our opportunities to serve others, and thrive spiritually as a result. When we choose not to obey this law, we risk either addiction to substances which can restrict our thinking and overall health and/or feeling unclear or numb to the promptings of the Holy Ghost which are important to developing a personal relationship with God. In order for our spirit to have full expression in this life as planned by our all-knowing Heavenly Father, its physical tabernacle needs first to be in good working condition. I love the Word of Wisdom! It was revealed in 1833 to the Prophet Joseph Smith, and in recent years scientific studies are finding more and more proof of the truth of this important law of God.
