Hi I'm Mealeen

I grew up in Washington, USA. I am a mother, a wife, and a homemaker. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the church, and attended a church college. I was a vocal performance major, and a ballroom dance minor. I have always had a love for music, and hope to some day teach choir at the high school level. I also have a love for crafts. I like to make cards, and scrapbook. I also like creating home decor from scratch, instead of buying it ready made. I am the mother of two, for now, and I love it! I also have a loving husband, who is working hard as a resident at a local hospital.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born and raised in the church. I have never doubted the teachings of the gospel, it has always felt right to me. I see the teachings as facts, or reality, rather than something I can choose to believe or not. To me, the gospel isn't just a nice story to dream about, it's REAL, and it WILL have a happy ending.

How I live my faith

I love that the church is proactive! As members we are encouraged to participate in our community, I've always found it hard to find time for extras in my routine, but lately I've decided to make a little more effort. I signed up for the PTA at my child's school, and also participate in the local community choir. It's not much, but it feels good to follow the advice of my church leaders and participate in my community. At Church, I have been asked to be a teacher in a class of women age 18 and up. I have the opportunity to study and prepare a lesson on a given topic once a month. I was hesitant at first, I don't like speaking in front of people, and I felt 100% unqualified. I've always been bad with words, nothing EVER comes out right, I felt certain this was going to be a disaster. Now however, I find myself enjoying it! I start each study session with a prayer that I will be able to portray the message my Father in Heaven would want others to hear. I open my mind/heart for inspiration, and I'm always surprised how easily the words flow onto the paper. When Sunday comes, I'm ready, still nervous to be in front of others, but ready. People actually enjoy my lessons, and tell me that I'm inspiring, wow! I can't take any credit for it, I know it wouldn't be possible without the help of my loving Father in Heaven.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

As members of the "Church of Jesus Chirst of Later Day Saints" we do NOT worship Joseph Smith. We respect him and acknowledge him as a Prophet of God. Just as Moses was a instrument in the hands of God to bring His people out of Egypt and into the promised land, Joseph Smith was also and instrument in the hands of God, to restore His church in this, the later days.
