Hi I'm Michael Shouse

My name is Michael. I'm a lover of languages, culture, and people. Photography, Spanish, and the Gospel is my life.

About Me

I live in Oregon and enjoy the agriculturally rich Willamette Valley. I'm a Bilingual Patient Advocate at a local hospital. I enjoy serving others when I can. I like photography and graphic design. I am a college graduate from Brigham Young University. I studied Spanish and Linguistics. I have come to love Latin American culture and languages. I love the outdoors and enjoy growing plants. I enjoy hiking. I have the best girlfriend in the world. She is currently serving a mission in the Philippines. I cannot wait to ask her to be my Eternal Companion someday.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have learned so many important and interesting things throughout my years in the Church. I am now older and on my own. I still choose to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know that the truths that are taught every week bless my life. I have learned that the same church Christ organized when he was upon the earth has been restored back to the earth. He has chosen prophets and Apostles to guide us throughout our lives. Christ is the head of His Church. I also know that Jesus Christ has suffered and died for my sins so that I may be able to return to His presence. It is only through Him that I can be truly happy in this life. I know that the Lord has given more of His word in the Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. As does the Bible, it contains the word of God. I know these things to be true.

How I live my faith

I strive everyday to do what is right. I try to seek guidance from my Heavenly Father to know what I should do in my life. I go to church and listen to the great messages of Church leaders and members. Reading the words of our Heavenly Father in the scriptures also helps me get through my day.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Michael Shouse
Well, the blessings we can recieve through reading the scriptures are amazing. We believe the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price to be the word of God. If anyone wants to know what our doctrine is, they should first read what these four works say. We can come to know our purpose here on life in the scriptures. If one has a question, he or she can go to the scriptures with a prayer in their heart and find the answer. How blessed are we to have God's word in our hands. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Michael Shouse
10 % is what the Lord asks of His people. Tithing is a principle that has been taught since the beginning of the world. It is a commandment that the Lord has given us. The lives of the members and non-members alike are blessed by tithing funds. The many meeting house and temples are built by the sacrifices of tithe payers. Many of the less fortunate brothers and sisters here on earth are blessed by tithing as well as they recieve the support they need until they can support themselves. Tithing is payed by faith that one is going to recieve the blessings that come by obeying this commandment. Show more Show less
