Hi I'm John Sperry

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is John Sperry and my wife calls me a renaissance man. I have been married to the love of my life Sarah for more than ten years. We have four wonderful children and I can't imagine life without them. By profession I am middle school teacher. I've been teaching 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies for more than four years and every day I go to work feeling like I have the greatest job in the world. While I love my job, it is only one part of me. My hobbies have recently become a very big part of my life. I've been a drummer for more than twenty years and I play with a local band. My wife has supported me in my passion for music since the day we met. Recently I finished the first book in a fantasy trilogy that I am currently sending to agencies. I hope to become a published novelist in the near future. My newest hobby has recently turned me down a path I never expected. Through a friend I was referred to a sports writer that covers the sports teams of my one true collegiate love, The Oregon Ducks. I was asked to be a staff photogtapher and cover all major sports and sporting events for their website. I feel fortunate and blessed by my Father in Heaven to be able to pursue my gifts and have so much support from my family. Sarah is the love of my life and knowing that I will be with her for more than our mortal existence makes me so grateful and feel unworthy of God's blessings.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I found out at the age of sixteen that living a life centered around Christ brings more than blessings, it brings true and everlasting happiness. I was born to parents who were already members of the church. Throughout my life I've had the opportunity to see how life in the gospel of Jesus Christ can make such a difference in the way I feel about the world I live in and the relationships I have with those around me. In the past I've faced challenging decisions that caused me to question my faith. I've been in situations that made me really think about what I believe. In those times of confusion I turned to the one place I knew would not lead me astray: my Father in Heaven. Through prayer I have always been able to know where I should go and what decisions I should make. As an adult, I am often faced with questions about who I am and what i believe. Because of my faith in God, I know exactly how to answer those questions. I am a Mormon because I know it's all true.

How I live my faith

I live my life in a way that will lead me back to the presence of God. I live so that my children will see the joy there is in life because of God's plan. I am far from perfect. I will never be perfect. There was only one perfect man and he died for our sins. I am a husband, a father, a teacher, a drummer, a pgotographer, and a child of God. I love my life because I am all those things and they are all made possible because of Father in Heaven.
