Hi I'm Debbie

I live in Tennessee and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of two wonderful young adults.

Why I am a Mormon

After several years of inactivity I returned. It was a Sunday afternoon and I was in the kitchen doing the dishes. I heard someone call out from the living room and soon discovered it was the Bishop. He has been over the Scouts with my Son so it wasn’t that unusual for him to come to our home. I went in and sat down to talk to him. After a few minutes he asked me if I would like to be the 2nd Counselor in the Young Women’s Program. I was stunned to say the least and cast my eyes over toward my pack of cigarettes laying on the end table beside me. My mind began to race with thoughts and questions. He surely had forgotten that I smoked! He knew I wasn’t even active! How could I work in the Young Women? Those were some of the most impressionable members of the church and needed strong leaders not an inactive leader! I did not want to tell him no but I also did not know how I could do it. I promised him I would pray about it and get back with him. I honestly didn’t think anything would come of it since my praying about things before hadn’t gotten my any answers. That night before I went to sleep I got down on my knees (this was something I hadn’t done in a LONG time) and asked my Heavenly Father if he wanted me to be the 2nd Counselor in the Young Women’s Program for the Cookeville Ward. At 4:00 a.m. the next morning I sat straight up in my bed because it felt like something had physically grabbed my heart and squeezed! It panicked me at first because I didn’t know what was going on and then it hit me! Heavenly Father had answered my prayers and did want me to serve in his church! He hadn’t given up on me as I had convinced myself! That was almost two years ago and it still moves me to tears thinking about it.

How I live my faith

I am the 1st Counselor in the Stake Young Women's Presidency of our stake. I am also the pianist for my Ward's Primary.
