Hi I'm Wyatt

I Love Life and, yeah, I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am 22 years old. I am attending college where I am studying to be a Civil Engineer and a Real Estate Developer. I have a wide range of interests including basketball, attending music concerts, hip-hop dancing, dirt bike riding, golfing, reading, and more. I try to live my life in the most meaningful way possible by staying true to what I believe. Of course I make mistakes, but I am always trying to be better.

Why I am a Mormon

From a young age I have had Faith in God and I have seen the value of living a life in line with the teachings of Christ. My family and friends have been amazing examples to me and have helped me see how meaningful life can be when we strive to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ. During my teenage years I found out that God was there, that He cared about me, and that He had a plan for me. I also came to know that He had restored the fullness of his gospel to the earth today, through the prophet Joseph Smith. Only through my own prayer and searching did I find this out. I know that the spirit spoke to me, and continues to speak to me, helping me find answers to life's questions. These answers didn't come over night, and they didn't come with out some searching. But I have seen my Faith grow as I have been willing to humble myself and put the Gospel of Christ into action. I am so happy that I have followed the path that I am on now. I have found peace, direction, and happiness because of my Faith. I cannot imagine living without it. It is impossible for me to describe the impact that the restored gospel has had on my life. Being a member of this church has been more then just a good lifestyle or a passive belief. It influences every decision that I make. I feel as though I have been able to avoid much of the despair and sorrow because of the Gospel. It has had a powerful and wonderful impact on my life. I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

There are many ways in which I put my faith into action. First and foremost my Faith effects who I am and how I act. I feel much happier and positive because of my Faith in Christ. It also effects how I spend my time. Every Sunday I attend our weekly church service. I love going to church because it uplifts and guides me. The people there are genuine and have had a huge impact on my life. One of my responsiblities at church is helping out with the Young Men's program, specifically for the boys between ages 16 and 18. I help prepare and present lessons at church for the young men, I organize weekly actvities, and I also attend campouts that take place through out the year.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Wyatt
Mormons don't drink cofee, tea, or alcohol because we believe that God has given us commandments that allow us to live our lives in the best way possible. It is comparable to how parents show their love for their children by giving rules that will ensure their safety and happiness. God gives us his commandments through prophets. We believe that God still sends prophets today just like in days of old. The commandment to not drink coffee, tea, or alcohol, and to not smoke or use illegal drugs was recieved from God, through the prophet Joseph Smith 200 years ago. As I have lived this commandment it has kept me free from addiction and allowed me to be as happy as possible. I know that this truly is a commandment from God. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Wyatt
The Book of Mormon is scripture written by ancient prophets. It is similiar to the Bible in many ways. The Bible was written centuries ago by prophets like Abraham, Noah, and Moses. They lived in the Middle Eastern area and they received revelation from God. Theses men wrote down the teachings that God gave them, so that today we have their writings complied together as the Bible. The Book of Mormon was also written centuries ago by inspired prophets. These men lived on the American continent as apart of an ancient civiliaztion. These men were also inspired of God and they too wrote down the teachings of Christ on gold plates. These Gold Plates were passed down from prophet to prophet for many generations. The last prophet that wrote on these plates was commanded to bury them in the earth, in order to protect and preserve them. Hundreds of years later, in the early 1800's, Joseph Smith was led by God to these same Gold Plates buried in the earth, he brought them forth and translated them by the power of God into English. We now have this translation as the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon contains the teachings of Christ and helps us better understand the Bible. I know through prayer and the power of the Holy Ghost that is a true book. As I read the Book of Mormon I come closer to Christ and I learn more about his plan for me. Show more Show less
