Hi I'm Alicia

I'm a new mom. I'm a Texan. I speak French. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a new mom and enjoying the adventure that motherhood is. I graduated from BYU where I studied French teaching and I'm married to my awesome husband that is great daddy to our little girl. He is at BYU finishing up his schooling to become a Civil Engineer.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were members of the church when I was born and I grew up learning about Jesus Christ and trying to follow the things that I was taught. I was baptized when I was eight years old and felt from a young age that God was was real and that he loved me. My belief and my faith grew gradually but especially as a teenager when my faith was tested and I learned how to make good decisions. When I was 22 years old I wanted to share the happiness that the gospel brings me with others so I took off from college for 2 years to share my beliefs with others and help others to come to know Jesus Christ. It was the best experience of my life. I loved the people of France and I felt so strongly in my heart that the things I were teaching others were true. My belief in Jesus Christ and my knowledge that he died for me is what makes me happy in life and overcome challenges. I know God is my Heavenly Father and that He loves me. I know He has a plan for me to be happy. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know God answers our prayers and is there for us if we just turn to Him in prayer. He loves us so much and wants to help us. As a mom now I want so much for my daughter to learn about Jesus Christ and to teach her that it is through him that we can truly be happy!

How I live my faith

My husband and I are trying to start our new family together and prepare to have children as well. We make family scripture study and prayer a priority as well spending quality time together despite our busy lives. I serve in my local ward as a secretary for the Relief Society (the church's women's organization).

Faith is trusting in God and knowing that He knows what's best for us. It's doing His will even when we're not sure what will happen as a result. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

It is a commandment given to us by God to help us be happy. Families are so important to God that He wants us to use the sacred procreative powers only in a marriage where a husband and wife love each other. This helps us to be closer to God because we are more like Him and helps us avoid the pain and heartache that comes from unwanted pregnancies, and relationships that are too physical in nature before the commitment of marriage. Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is our purpose in life! We are children of God and He wants us to have our own families where we can learn and grow and experience the greatest happiness that can be found in this life and in the next. Through the teachings of Jesus Christ found in the restored gospel we can have happy families despite the challenges and the evil that surrounds us today in the world. Our families can be together forever though the ordinances we do in holy temples. Show more Show less

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Both have an important role to play in the family. Although there is no "perfect" family we believe that families are happiest when there is a mother and father who love each other and love their children. A father's first priority is to provide for his family and a mother's is to care for and nurture the children. Husband and wife are equal partners and help each other in the home and in caring for the children. Show more Show less
