Hi I'm Chapin

I'm a dental student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah and moved to Michigan when I was about 10 years old. I lived in Alaska for 2 years when I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Currently I am in dental school and just recently got engaged. Life is going really well and I feel blessed and tremendously grateful. I have many hobbies and interests. A few of my favorites are disc golf, guitar, songwritting and recording, tennis, table tennis, unicycling and juggling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but there comes a time in your life when you need to decide what you really believe. In the Book of Mormon a prophet named Moroni gives an amazing promise to the whole world. He promises that if you will read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, real intent, and faith in Christ that God will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. After considering that proposal, I decided to take the challenge. My prayer was not answered immediately, but it was answered. While studying 1Nephi chapter 8 one summer day I remember feeling God's love for me. The feeling was so powerful and unexpected that I knew it was an answer to my prayer. Prayers are answered differently for different people, but for me this is how my answer came. I know that the promise made by Moroni is true and I continue to feel the Spirit of God as I read scriptures, attend church and strive to follow Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving those around me. In the Church I have been given a missionary work responsibility and have the opportunity to help others learn about the gospel. I never get bored of watching people accept Jesus Christ and change their lives for the better. Giving my testimony of the truth to others is the best gift I can think of. I also live my faith through example. Although far from perfect, I still feel like I can make a difference in the world through small acts of kindness. Last, but not least, being a true friend to those around me is a big part of my faith and will always be a critical part of my life.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a sacred record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. The book's inspired writings were received by prophets and engraved on gold plates. In about 421 A.D. a prophet named Moroni buried the record in a place we now call New York. In 1820 A.D. Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to a boy named Joseph Smith and called him to be a prophet. Joseph Smith later translated the gold plates into English by the gift and power of God. We call this the Book of Mormon. The most important part of the record is when Jesus Christ personally appears to the people of the Book of Mormon soon after His resurrection. Show more Show less
