Hi I'm Cher

I'm a Mormon. I believe God loves me.

About Me

After 37 years as a communications specialist & advisor, I decided to take the early retirement offer my company offered me. Although I already had a Bachelor's degree, I decided to go back to school. I enrolled in one class to get CPR & first aid certification. I had just completed the course when I was asked to be a full time missionary. My assignment was telephone communication, computer data entry & compiling & submitting reports. This was work that I was quite familiar with. I also interacted with the other missionaries as I recieved their reports. This gave me much respect for the work they were doing. After completing my mission I immediately went to work at the Family History Center to help others search for their ancestors. This is a service that the church provides free of charge to everyone, non members included.

Why I am a Mormon

I decided to become a member 52 years ago after the missionaries visited our home. I had been questioning how Christ could be praying to Himself in the Garden of Gethsemane. The missionaries explained to me that Christ & Heavenly Father belonged to the same Godhead but were two separate beings. They also told me about a young boy, Joseph Smith, who also questioned what he had been taught. After reading in the Bible, James chapter 1 verse 5, he decided to ask God & recieved an answer to his prayers. The missionaries taught me that I could pray & ask God. I did that and after recieving an answer, knew that I should be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I continue to go to the Lord when I have questions and He continues to answer them.

How I live my faith

I believe that this life is a preparation for the next. I try to live my life accordingly by not dwelling on the earthly things too much but focusing on the things I can "take with me." This includes filling my mind with the good things such as beautiful music, poetry & art, uplifting movies( no horror films for me). I like to take time out to be thankful & enjoy nature & animals- yes I know Heavenly Father created for me. I also believe all our relationships & interactions, including family, friends & acquaintances are directed by a loving God for our learning & personal development. I try to see others in a way as to how can I contribute to each as God intended. I also believe that the fullfillment in life is by finding our own personal gifts & mission. The church guides & directs me in this.
