Hi I'm Katie Jean

I'm a college student, amateur writer and aspiring teacher. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah. I am single. I love and I mean LOVE reading anything I can get my hands on. I also enjoy some amateur writing. I love working with kids and tring to seeing the world through their eyes. My Motto in life is I can do hard things. I've learned this because I've had to do hard things in my life just like everyone else. My mother passed away when I was very young and my father remarried a wonderful women who has raised me and my siblings to love God and live His teachings. I love the feel of grass under my feet. I love dancing in the rain and I love singing at the top of my lungs. I love warm summer nights just when the sun is going down. Most of all I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and it's simple truths.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I've grown up in the Mormon church I can't say that I've always believed in the Mormon church. Sure, I went to church every Sunday with my parents and followed the teachings of the church but I only did so because I was supposed to. When I graduated from High School and moved out on my own I was faced for the first time with the question of what I believed. I had professors that questioned my belief, I had peers who told me I was a "sheltered molly Mormon girl" who needed to grow up and be exposed to the world around her. I read the Book Of Mormon and did some hard thinking. I began studying the church doctrine, deciding if I agreed with everything it taught. I took the Moroni Challenge at the end of the Book of Mormon, to ask god if it were true. I can not fully describe to you the sweet spirit that filled me and the joy that I have experienced because I have the gospel in my life but I can tell you that I believe this church, The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, to be the restored church on this earth. I know my Father in heaven love's me more then I can comprehend now. I bear witness to the truth and happiness that can be found in this gospel. I believe it's true! It's all true!

How I live my faith

I don't live it perfectly but I sure try. I take the day off work each Sunday and go to Church. I try to read my scriptures every morning. I sing with my church choir and participate in as many activities as possible. I search for ways I can serve those around me. I sew blankets and baby gowns for Church Humanitarian Services. I try to make someone smile each day and make the world a better place around me. I live the gospel to the best of my abilities though my actions and example.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Katie Jean
We are often called Mormons because we use a book of scripture written by prophets in the ancient Americas called The Book Of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. We believe the book was compiled by the ancient prophet Mormon and is so named after him. This book is very similar to the Bible, which we also use. Show more Show less
