Hi I'm Jon

I grew up in Richmond, VA. I like cars, computers, and firefighting. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Richmond, VA where I've lived all of my life. I've always had an interest in taking things apart, ever since I was a little kid, to know how things worked. I am currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and plan to go to school for mechanical engineering when I return home. When I was 16, I joined the volunteer fire department and have loved it ever since. What I hold most precious to me is my family. I grew up in a family with all sisters, and I love each one of them as well as my parents and grandparents very much.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I truly believe that it will help me to return to live with my Father in Heaven with my family. By attending church every Sunday, I can learn how to become a better person. This church, Jesus Christ's church, I believe has been restored through a modern day prophet, Joseph Smith, and that it is the same church as the one that Christ himself set up when He was on the earth. I believe that the prophet and apostles that we have today can truly help lead us to returning to live with God just as prophets did in ancient times. I am grateful that I was able to follow the example of Jesus Christ and be baptized when I was eight years old. I also know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not just a one-time thing. Rather, it is continuously striving to follow Jesus Christ and doing the things that He would do. I also think that one of the reasons why I choose to be a Mormon is because it makes sense to me. Ever since I was a kid, I found that I had a strong interest in math and science. As a result, I like it when things logically make sense. The teachings that are taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints make sense to me logically. Additionally, and I would say even more importantly, I feel in my heart that this is Christ's church because I have prayed and asked God if it is, and He has answered me through those feelings that I have in my heart which come from the Holy Ghost (see Galatians 5:22-23).

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to remember Jesus Christ everyday in what I do. I currently serve as a full-time missionary and am able to help people to develop their faith in Jesus Christ. I also believe in helping other people in other ways such as through the fire department where I volunteered prior to serving a mission in Texas.
