Hi I'm Melissa

I'm a fun-loving mother of three trying to live life to the fullest. I'm a mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I am a mother and a wife. I have three beautiful, young, ACTIVE children. We love to spend time together playing games, putting puzzles together, cooking, gardening and making music. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and we look forward to an eternity together with our family. I love to do many things and love to learn. If there's something I'm curious about or want to try, I research it and then have fun doing it. My biggest passions are children, cooking, and gardening. I have a small home garden that I use every square foot of to get as much out of it as I can. I also have enjoyed planting and harvesting herbs and various berries. I really enjoy finding new recipes to use my home-grown vegetables and fruits in. I graduated from a four year college with a degree in Early Childhood Education and I love to teach children. My dream is to have a preschool out of my home. I have done that in the past, but currently don't have space for it. My favorite mail is the curriculum and educators catalogs. I get excited thinking about all those fun, educational toys that I could use in preschool or at home with my own kids. I love my life, family, and home, but I am constantly striving to be better.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I had to learn for myself whether this church was one I was going to accept and live or go my own way. There was never an in between. I don't really do things half-way, or at least I try really hard not to. Growing up in an area where there were very few Mormons and almost none my age gave me the opportunity to truly look and the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ and how they would help me. I occasionally went to activities and meetings with friends of other faiths and sang with a choir from a different church, but none of these places gave me the closeness to the Holy Ghost and my Savior than my own. This gospel made sense to me and I could feel the truth of it every time I read the scriptures and said my prayers. It was a gospel of action and constant struggles to be better. I know that I lived in Heaven before we came to this earth and that we are here to learn and grow, to better ourselves and try to become more like our Father in Heaven. I know that Jesus Christ loved us so much that he was willing to atone for our sins, heartaches, sicknesses, and struggles. He felt what I have felt and knows how to succor me. I know He set up His church while He was on the earth and that it was restored, in its entirety, by Joseph Smith the prophet. I know that the Priesthood of God was given to him and passed on to us. I love my Savior and am eternally grateful for the privilege to enter into His temples and do the sacred ordinances that bind me to my family for eternity. We are the children of our Heavenly Father. He loves us and wants us to be with Him forever just as we want to be with our families forever. These eternal truths give me hope, strength, and peace in a world full of trouble and insecurity. I will stand strong if I am anchored to my Savior and His church, no matter what may come my way.

How I live my faith

I live the gospel in many small and simple ways. Mostly I try to befriend those around me and help them when they need it. I have made wonderful friends in my neighborhood; sisters that I can turn to for help, just as they know they can count on me. I try to reach out to those I don't know and I love to make treats and dinners to take to them. I also work with the Cub Scouts in my area. These young men are the strength of our future society and I try and help them develop the skills and attributes they will need to make a good contribution to their communities and families. We also have lots of FUN! We play lots of games, do service projects and learn about our world. I have also worked with the children teaching lessons to them about Jesus Christ and His love for us. One of my favorite things to do, though, is play and sing music. I am part of our church choir and will soon start to play the organ for our Sunday meetings. I know that my Heavenly Father uses the talents He has given me to help build His kingdom through these kinds of activities.
