Hi I'm Zach Brough

I'm a student, I'm a husband, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 27 years old. I got married on June 3, 2010, to the love of my life, Tara. We have two adorable childer, Porter (4) and Piper (2). I am a mechanical engineer, and I work at a consulting firm in Phoenix specializing in solar energy. My hobbies include playing basketball, running, ping-pong, piano and games. I love to listen to audiobooks and podcasts. My wife and I love to play games, especially strategy games (7 Wonders, Dominion, Splendor, etc.). I love word games, trivia and crossword puzzles as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and His infinite atonement. I know that through Him I can receive eternal life. I also know that Christ's church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has been restored to the earth after a long period of apostasy. I love the Book of Mormon, and I have read it and know that it is proof of this restoration through the prophet Joseph Smith. My favorite thing about being a Mormon is the knowledge I have that our families can be together forever. Part of the restoration of the Church was the restoration of the Priesthood, or authority to act in Christ's name on the earth. Through this authority things can be sealed on Earth and in Heaven, such as families. I know that my family can be together forever, and that my marriage to Tara will not be only until "death do us part." I love being a Mormon, and I am grateful for my Savior.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church services each Sunday and renewing covenants I have made with the Lord at baptism. I serve in the church by extending assignments to other members so that they can help to serve as well and feel a sense of belonging in the ward which we attend. I help to conduct our church services on Sundays, and help our Bishop in discussing how to make things run more smoothly in our ward.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Zach Brough
No, the missionary program is a volunteer organization. Anyone who wants to serve in the church can, including in the capacity of a missionary. I had the privilege of serving in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro North mission, and I cherish the opportunity I had to serve there. I absolutely encourage anyone who is able to to serve a mission because of the amazing experience I had on mine, but the Church does not require that anyone serves a mission. Show more Show less
