Hi I'm Alex

I like dirt-bikes, computers, and fine arts. Oh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have recently returned from a mission to the people of Minnesota. I have three brothers and one sister and many relatives. Right now I am working and preparing to go to college in the fall of 2011.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the church my whole life, but that doesn't mean that I didn't have to find out for myself if the things my parents believed were true. I was fifteen when I first had the desire to find out if The Book of Mormon was true. I began reading and it was a hard read the first time. I didn't make it all of the way through, before I knew it was true. I knew for sure that the Book and the church which espouses it was true at an event entitled The Day of Celebration. It was there on the 15th of July that I recieved the confirming witness of the Holy Ghost that it is true.

How I live my faith

Right now I am actually far away from home serving a mission in Minnesota. Missions for guys last two years. I have been here for fifteen months. As a missionary I have many opprotunites to serve others and tell others about the gospel of Jesus Christ. The greatest thing about being a missionary is being able to see the light in the eyes of others as they begin living the principles of the gospel. Missionaries are under a more strict code of rules and are not allowed to watch television, listen to the radio, play video games, and many other things. It is a very joyous calling and I will be sad when it ends.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

The temple is the house of the Lord. It is a sacred and holy place, and only those who have been living the commandments that have been given to us by the lord are allowed entrance into His holy house. The temple isn't secret... it is sacred. It is the place that worthy latter-day saints go and make covenants with the lord. A promise between you and God. Also it is there that families are sealed together for time eternity. Show more Show less

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is simply Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The biggest difference I can see is that it was written on the American side of the world. As for how Jospeh Smith got it, he was led to it. One night about three years after his miraculous vision of God The Father and His son Jesus Christ, Joseph was in his room praying to God. He said that "I discovered a light appearing in my room, which continued to increase until the room was lighter than at noonday, when immediately a personage appeared at my bedside, standing in the air, for his feet did not touch the floor." This personage was an angel sent from God whose name is Moroni. Moroni showed Joseph in vision the place where the plates were buried. Joseph was comanded to go to the place where the plates were buried every year at that time for the next four years. The last time Joseph went he was given them and commenced translating them through the power of God. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The prophets who lived in the Ancient Americas. They kept a record of all of the dealings of the people. After a period of many years a prophet histiorian named Mormon was commanded by God to take all of the records that had been preserved and make an abridement of them. This abridgement was written on plates made of gold. The record was passed on to Mormon's son Moroni who wrote whatsoever things he felt were of the most importance, afterwards sealing up the record and burying it in the ground to be preserved by God and come forth in God's own due time.
