Hi I'm Katie

I make great sugar cookies. I know interesting people. I serve on my city council. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife and mom of three teenagers. I am interested in the American system of government. My goal is learn how our government works at all levels, and to teach others how to effectively participate in the political process. I have served as a volunteer for candidates and causes, run campaigns, and run for elected office. I currently serve on my city's council.

Why I am a Mormon

No lightning bolts, no dramatic experiences - just a lot of small and simple situations that testify to me that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are real and they know each of us.

How I live my faith

I have had lots of different callings in the church - from teaching the littlest children to working with the women in my congregation. The calling I really like the best I will always have - visiting a few sisters every month to see how they are doing. Although I don't get to pick and choose who I visit, I always end up making a new friend.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

I grew up in a family of five girls. We were all expected to do our best in school, and to continue on in our education in order to have a marketable skill so that we could support ourselves or our families if necessary. I have always felt valued, respected, fulfilled and empowered. Show more Show less
