Hi I'm Jonathon

I'm a Mormon. :

About Me

I just finished serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was an incredible opportunity to share the gospel with others abroad in the world. I will always be a missionary and try to share the happiness of the gospel with others but now that I am not a full time missionary I will focus on the council of the Prophet to get married for time and all eternity in the temple. I hope to get married and continue focusing on my flying career. I hope to continue flying and gain experience in the aviation industry and pursue oppertunities throughout the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of the witness I have recieved of the truthfulness of this gospel. I was not always a converted member and didn't always go to church and do the right things. At one point I felt that I needed God in my life and began to attend church and pray. I received my answer that this church is the Lords true and living church on the earth. The Lord has once again called a living Prophet to guide us on the Earth as he did in days of old. And why not...? To me it looks like the world certainly needs the Lords guidence through a true and living Prophet.

How I live my faith

I'm not a cookie cutter and my religion doesn't change who I am. Rather I can take my personality, skills, hobbies, passions and combine them with attributes of the Savior such as love, patience, service, longsuffering etc... The Gospel of Jesus Christ does not make us into a certain kind of people. It does not define us, rather it defines what we do and who we become. The Gospel is to prepare us to enter into the rest of a loving Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ through ordinances and Priesthood power that existed in the Church when Christ lived. My faith is a part of my life in just about every decision I make. I can always ask myself what the Savior would expect me to do. As we should always be trying to become like the Master, we should always try to make our actions, His actions. He spent his life in love and service towards others. Looking for those opportunities to help others in need, no matter when and where can make an impact that we may not see or understand.

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Jonathon
This is so important. Would you allow a fireman to give a speeding ticket? We are baptized by authority because that is when God truely recognizes the commitment we are making with him. Jesus Christ walked close to 70 miles to be baptized by John the Baptist because John the Baptist held that sacred Priesthood authority to baptize him. The same principle applies today. Authority is not given from attending classes or calling yourself a minister. It was restored to the Prophet Joseph Smith. It is a power of God called the Priesthood that allows us to perform work for God here as authorized servants. Just as hands were layed on the Apostles heads and apon others heads for authority, blessings and recieving The Gift of the Holy Ghost in the time of Jesus Christ, things have not changed today. Authority to baptize has been the same throughout time and does not change in a modern world. The Lord has restored this sacred authority to us to give us the blessing of being baptized by authority. Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Jonathon
It is absolutely true! Think about it... There were people in America long before settlers from Europe and other parts of the World came... And where did they come from? We are all Gods children so would God not want to spread his gospel to all of his children? Why just his children in one part of the world but not another? The Book of Mormon is the answer to these and many questions. It is a sacred book of scripture. A record of Gods dealings with the inhabitants of Ancient America. It is a record of where they came from, their beginnings, their wars, their prophets and more. An entire record that teaches us the fulness of the Lords gospel. The Lord loves us more than we can comprehend and has given us these gifts for our beneift. That we can learn of Him, His gospel, His teachings and of the truth. In the Book of Mormon The Savior comes and visits these people in America after His resurection. In John 10:16, before the Savior left his diciples he told them "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd". The Savior is talking about those who had His gospel in America. Show more Show less
