Hi I'm Michael

I live in the UK and work as a Clinical Scientist for the National Health Service. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and my wife and I have 5 children (3 boys and 2 girls). I work as a Clinical Scientist in Microbiology. I enjoy keeping fit and playing sport in my spare time. I love the outdoors and try to cycle and walk in the countryside as much as possible as well as camping whenever the opportunity arises. I also enjoy watching films, especially ones with a happy ending! I lived in France for 2 years and love the country and its people and I try to return as often as I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to active member parents but during my teenage years I wanted to know for myself if I should continue to follow the principles my Mum and Dad had taught me. During this time I studied the Book of Mormon on my own and subsequently prayed for a confirmation of its truthfulness. I felt the spirit as I read in the Book of Mormon and when I prayed I felt in my heart and mind that the book was true and that Joseph Smith did indeed translate it by the power of God as he said. Since that time I have strived to live true to the principles taught in the scriptures, as revealed to Joseph Smith and other latter-day prophets. Despite having had difficult times through study, serving a mission, serving in the church and leading my family according to the principles taught in the church my testimony has been strengthened and I am confident it is the way Heavenly Father would have me live and lead my family. I have been greatly blessed, both physically and spiritually, as I have tried my best to live true to the testimony I received as a teenager. I consider that the majority of good that has come into my life and the good that is within me is as a consequence of my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith daily by being a good husband and father and by being an honest and hard working employee and citizen. I have also had the opportunity through my church membership to serve many people by going on a mission in France and by fulfilling various other assignments. I have taught the young people of the church and spent many years as a youth leader. I have organised many activities for the church in my local area and have participated in lots of community projects. I consider my most important responsibility, in companionship with my wife, to help our children learn the gospel of Jesus and Christ and to help them love living its principles.

How do I become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church)?

To become a member of the church it is important to learn the basics of the restored gospel. Missionaries from the church will generally teach you these principles using a series of lessons. Once you feel that their teaching are true then you are ready to consider baptism. You become a member of the church after you are baptised and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
