Hi I'm Dee Winegar

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a proud husband of a beautiful wife and a father of 3 boys and 2 girls. I am a middle school technology teacher and help teach English classes to Spanish speaking individuals in my community. I find great joy in being a husband and father and enjoy spending time with my family. Other activities I enjoy include biking, hiking, and sports.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't know how you could raise a family in today's immoral world without the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel provides direction for me and my family and hope that we can again live in peace with our savior some day. I have felt the spirit testify to me of the truthfulness of the restoration of the gospel and have had the privilege of sharing that truth with many others. My joy increases as I come closer to my savior and follow the teachings of his prophets.

How I live my faith

I recently read an experience from the life of one of our Prophets, George Albert Smith, who served as Prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1945-1951. He was conversing with a man who had lived in Salt Lake City for 20 years and said that he had come to the conclusion that we (Mormons) were just as good as our neighbors who are members of other churches and that he could not see any difference in us. President Smith said this about the experience: "I want to say to you, my brethren and sisters, that this is no compliment to me. If the gospel of Jesus Christ does not make me a better man, then I have not developed as I should, and if our neighbors not in this Church can live among us from year to year and see no evidence of the benefits that come from keeping the commandments of God in our lives, then there is need for reform..." I am grateful for the opportunity I have to repent each day and recommit myself to do better. I testify that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has made me a better man and I can't imagine where I would be without it. I have a desire to share with others the knowledge that has brought me and my family joy and happiness and I feel honored to be an instrument in our heavenly fathers hands and share that knowledge with others. I testify that the gospel of Jesus Christ can bring more joy, happiness, and purpose to your life.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

Dee Winegar
In the marriage covenant or promise, the husband and wife are asked to receive one another unto themselves. This means that each will love each other for who they are. The goal, however, in marriage is to become united, and a husband and wife should devote much of their time in helping one another become a better person. I am truly grateful for the love and support that my wife has given me which has helped me become a better person. In order for a marriage to last for eternity, the Savior must be part of it. Why? Through the savior, husband and wife are given the strength to both love and forgive one another. "The family, a proclamation to the world" states: happiness in family life is most likely achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection to their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Show more Show less
