Hi I'm Leah

I'm a married mother of one trying to figure out life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an avid reader, and mother of one beautiful daughter. I've done some school on and off, though I haven't quite figured out what I'm supposed to be doing yet. I've moved quite a few times trying to find where I fit. I love riding bikes and laughing. Oh, and I love my husband :

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be raised in a family with a lot of Mormons. When I was 15 my brother died and I decided I didn't want to be a Mormon anymore. I was pretty mad at God. So I felt lost. For months I tried to be happy, I went to other churches, I did everything I could to go against what my parents had taught me. But I wasn't happy. Eventually a dear friend talked me into praying. Then for the first time on my own, I read The Book of Mormon. I did as was suggested to me, and I prayed. I asked Heavenly Father to tell me if it was true. I wanted to be happy, and if being Mormon was the way to be happy I'd do it. For the first time in a long time I felt loved. I didn't have a huge vision, I didn't hear words, but I knew I was loved and that Heavenly Father was with me. And I knew that my brother was safe. Life hasn't been perfect since then, but having the Gospel in my life is constant. It is my way to happiness. It is my strength in an ever-changing world.

How I live my faith

I've done many things in my ward. Mostly I help out with music. I play the piano, and organ. Currently I teach a Sunday School class. It is a blessing to me, because it helps me spend time in the scriptures. I try to be an example to people around me. People that I run into every day.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

According to Moses 1:39, God's "Work and His Glory is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man." For that to happen each of his children need to come to earth to obtain a body, and participate in certain ordinances, like baptism. As a woman, I will have a very big part in helping God's children obtain a body. If I also had the ability through the priesthood to give all of the ordinances to my children, why would we need men? God has organized his church in a way that each of us are needed. A man isn't more important than a woman. He just has a different job. But we aren't left with out important responsibilities. There is a woman's organization called the Relief Society. Here, woman gather together to serve one another, build friendships, take care of each other, and teach the Gospel. By doing our best to serve in the ways we are asked, and working hard as a mother, we are able to lead in the Church and in the home. Show more Show less
